I had a long talk with a Korean monk a few months ago. I didn’t ask her about the can of Raid in the temple, also she doped me up with really strong caffeinated tea late at night (I don’t drink caffeine). It was an interesting talk though.

“The desire to change is fundamentally a form of aggression toward yourself.” - Pema Chödrön // Something I’m contemplating these days, maybe a mistake in my youth was to always try to become something else, “better” than who I was, not taking the time to get to know my truest self. What was I trying to makeup for? Did I truly love myself and the ones closest to me, if I always was looking for spaces for “improvement”? Doesn’t sound unconditional, yet that is the ideal.
I love you just the way you are. Exactly you at every moment. Its a practice, a difficult discipline.
Oh hey! Remember me? I took a few months off of life, to really focus on figuring things out. Learning from Buddha, Jesus, Ram Dass, Pema Chödrön, Mr. Rogers, and other contemplative sages on living a meaningful life. Letting go of value judgement, and expanding the truest self out into the world is a discipline I’m working on everyday. From now on I want to share the art I’ve been making, expressing that mindfulness in which I strive for. If anyone wants to chat with me about related matters, or baking (I’ve also been watching the Great British Baking Show), or whatever else, I wish to be someone you can connect/talk with. Hit me up!
